However, theoretical capacity rarely matches real‑site performance, especially when processing high‑hardness stones such as gabbro, basalt, and granite. Four core correction factors should be considered for hard rock:
Actual Output (TPH) = Rated Theoretical Capacity × Hardness Factor × Feed Factor × Moisture Factor
For gabbro, basalt and granite, the comprehensive correction factor commonly ranges from 0.60 to 0.75. For example, a crushing line marked 300TPH theoretical capacity, stable real‑world output will be around 180‑225 TPH when processing gabbro rock.
A customer’s quarry processes gabbro with feed size 200‑350mm. The production line is equipped with ZSW vibrating feeder, PE series jaw crusher and multi‑cylinder hydraulic cone crusher. The factory‑stated capacity is 350 t/h. After applying hard‑rock correction coefficient, the stable on‑site working output is 220‑260 tons per hour, producing qualified 0‑60mm aggregate.
1. Reserve 25%‑40% capacity margin when selecting equipment for granite, basalt or gabbro project.
2. Ensure vibrating feeder and circular vibrating screen have enough processing capacity, do not only focus on crusher parameters.
3. Regularly check wear parts such as jaw plates and cone liners. Worn wearing parts will continuously reduce plant output.
